Playa Azul Baler

It’s our second time to stay here today, and it hasn’t been as pleasant as the previous one. Some staff members have been quite unhelpful so far. First, our PWD companion asked for some help in calling a trike, and the staff refused outright, saying no trikes frequent the area at that time (around 8:30pm). Just 5 minutes later, my PWD companion got a trike on her own. Another incident, my companion picked the wrong breakfast for me by mistake. I politely asked the kitchen staff to please replace it with my correct choice and returned it. Minutes later, again, the staff refused. She went to our table to tell me that I picked that dish so I’m not allowed to replace it. How hard could it be to change that check mark on a piece of paper? Third, I asked one staff about the foot massage rate. She said it was 500 (she sounded unsure, to be fair). When the massage therapist arrived, she said the rate was actually 900 per hour, which was expensive even for Manila standards, and nearly twice the amount I was informed. I had to cancel and apologize, and I just gave a tip to the therapist for the hassle. Overall, the stay is still okay, and the rooms are spacious and clean, and has a spectacular view. Some staff members are just a bit of a letdown. I still like this hotel, but I believe a refresher on customer service for its staff is absolutely necessary.

Beach is just across the road and you can walk on the beach towards costa area for food and drinks. If you could get the beach facing rooms, it's worth the additional cost, standard rooms are still good and you could always go to top floor to get a higher view of the surrounding area. Food is just fine but would prefer to eat at yellowfin.

Have seen a few bad reviews before booking, so we really weren't expecting much. Not sure if there were improvements from previous bad reviews, but this is just our personal experience, This place rocks for a budget staycation here in Baler. Customer service is great, the staff are all nice & courteous. They really take care of their clients. The place is clean while the room and amenities are as advertised, clean, spacious, and have a great view of the beach. The food in their kitchen, I should say is 4/5. Not too shabby. Nice presentation and just properly done. Not high-end, but definitely surpassed my expectations for a budget hotel. The free breakfast is a meal! (See pics below). I was just expecting bread and coffee. That really made my day so far...

This is a good bang for your buck budget travellers. It’s worth adding a pennies to get the ocean side view. However, the lack of having carpeted floors and during our stay, there were bunch of gamu-gamo in the room takes away the two stars. I let the staff know about the flies but they said it’s normal during the time of our visit. I’ll just leave it at that. August 2023, Almost a year ago we checked in at Playa Azul, I left a 2 star review due to the flies and lack of basic amenities like room slippers in the unit and the place was fully booked so the staff couldn’t move us into another room. Back then the place was really new, lacking elevators but it’s only 3 floors so it shouldn’t be trek to even some seniors. This time, I’m changing that 2 star review to no-star review, the place is now looking like it was never taken care of since the last time we were here. The base of every walls in our room were heavily damaged by water and the bottom of the glass in shower was fully gunk up with molds, not only gross but also unsafe. The only thing that’s great here is the location, staff and breakfast.

Great hotel along baywalk. They clean so well. Bathroom needs fixing but overall it's clean. They serve plated breakfast though the viand comes in very small portion. Hope they can increase the quantity of their serving. They also have room service from their restaurant. Food is great. Would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a simple accommodation that delivers well. Plus points, it's pet-friendly.

A fantastic hotel in Baler that is right on the water with an incredible view of the ocean. The hotel room was clean, comfortable, and with plenty of in room amenities. The staff was very friendly and caring. Location in Baler was awesome and easily within walking distance to the best of the beaches as well as great local food. Highly recommended if visiting the beautiful coastal city of Baler!
